PHILOSOPHY

The primary objective of the St. Rose of Lima School PTG is to foster support for the school in the areas of academic achievement, classroom enrichment, and social activities. The Contributed Services Program was established to meet these goals and to foster community spirit. It is the policy of the school that all families take an active part in the Contributed Services Program. The school needs volunteers in many different areas. All
jobs are vital to the efficient operation of the school to ensure the children receive the best possible education in a loving, Christian atmosphere. Sign-up sheets for contributed services are located in the school office for your convenience. We realize that certain family circumstances can arise and possibly prohibit a family’s ability to participate in the Contributed Services Program. When these circumstances arise, it is the family’s responsibility to meet with the Principal to discuss the matter and formulate an acceptable plan.

SERVICE HOURS
As per the Parent Agreement, each family at St. Rose of Lima School is expected to contribute 30 hours. Service hours are earned by volunteering for the various events and activities offered throughout the school year. A list of these services and the associated service hours are included in this PTG Handbook. If a service or activity is not listed, please call either of the PTG 1st Vice-Presidents to verify if hours will be given.

The PTG 1st Vice Presidents monitor the Contributed Services Program using a voucher system. Please note that in order to receive credit for your volunteer time, families must complete a voucher for all hours of service. Thank you for attention to this procedure as it helps to organize the volunteer efforts for over 240 St. Rose families. Vouchers are included in this PTG Handbook, and can also be found in the school office for your
convenience. Please place completed vouchers in the school office “PTG Mail Box” or forward them to the office via your white weekly envelope. New vouchers should be completed every school year, even if you continue the same service from the previous year. The PTG 1st Vice-Presidents do not use event sign-up sheets to record points. Most importantly, please remember to have a staff member or the event chairperson sign the
voucher before forwarding it to the school office.

The 30 service hours must be completed and reported to the PTG 1st Vice Presidents by May 4. Two status letters from the school office will be sent home in January and May. Reports will include the number of service points your family has accumulated at that point in time. Please call either of the PTG 1st Vice-Presidents if you have questions regarding service points.
